SALISBURY, MD---The Wicomico County Democratic Central Committee seeks applicants for an opening on the Wicomico Board of Elections. The current opening is due to the recent death of Dr. James Doyle, a Democratic board member.
Applicants must be a registered Democrat in Wicomico County for five years preceding the appointment. In addition, applicants may not hold or be a candidate for public or political party office. Board of Election members are prohibited from taking an active part in political activity.
Wicomico County has a five-member board, three of the party of the current governor (Republican Larry Hogan), two of the Democratic Party. New member has full voting privileges. The board president has an annual salary of $4,500; members receive $4,000.

Applicants must submit a letter explaining their interest in the position, a statement about the ways they can contribute to the board and a resume with biographical information and prior experience. In-person interviews of applicants will be conducted in mid-April. The Central Committee will recommend four nominees to Maryland Gov. Hogan who will select one to fill the vacancy.
